090214 We left the ship when she passed by Sri Lanka. After a 4 hour drive up from Galle we stayed in Colombo for a few days and I could see the railway line from our hotel room!A trip was made to the main station,Colombo Fort.A DMU is seen arriving from the south.
090214 Dont quote me but I believe this is a genuine Alco locomotive. It is still doing 15 mph and as can be seen people are already jumping from the other side onto the tracks
then into the carriages! The station was British built and the people were very friendly
090214 Another Alco?We were here for a few hours on a Sunday and although I could have done with more trains it was still fairly busy.
090214 The coolest dude on the station!!
090214 Some old rolling stock, although to be fair most of it seemed old!Note the "For Clergy" sign.
180214 A week at home and our first shot.Still if its a Colas 56 it cant be bad....56302 approach the mini gallery at Ellerhayes with 8 MHAs on 6Z29 1120 Exeter Riverside ~ Westbury.
180214 56302 passes Ellerhayes with 8 MHAs on 6Z29 1120 Exeter Riverside ~ Westbury. We had been in full sun for nearly an hour but of course a massive bank of cloud was rapidly approaching!
200214 It was total crud all the way from Plymouth and I had stood in rain for 45 minutes, what an I doing here??Yet 5 minutes before the train the clouds parted..... 66006 heads up the branch with the 6G07 13:50 Fowey-Goonbarrow
200214 With Lostwithiel in the background 66006 heads upgrade to Milltown with the 6G07 13:50 Fowey-Goonbarrow
210214 Stood in full blue for 30 minutes then it goes very iffy for the main event! 43014 + NMT + 43062 on 1Q19 1108 Exeter-Paddington pass Ellerhayes. After a day out on my own yesterday the assistant is back in action and gets the shot.
210214 With nothing else after Ellerhayes what to do? A drive over the A30 and I am back at Milltown for the second day running. 1Z46 on the 1206 N Abbot to St Erth "shuttle"
210214 If at first you don't succeed try again. When the train came yesterday the light dipped,24 hours later its deja vu with lots of cloud /rain and as it left Lostwithiel I was despondent in full dull
however....... 66006 on 6G07 13:50 Fowey-Goonbarrow on Treverran bank near Lostwithiel. With the current timings is there a better CDA shot available??
210214 Given the suns low angle I was surprised that this shot was on.The assistant mans the tripod and captures 66006 snaking up to Milltown with 6G07 13:50 Fowey-Goonbarrow.
210214 Yes its much the same as 24 hours ago but crucially the light is much better as yesterday it was about to die on me today its getting brighter all the time.66006 heads up Treverran
bank,leaving Lostwithiel behind it.
260214 A decent forecast and we are set to go to Shrivenham..however the gen is that the clays have gone to Parkandillack,no contest ! Early running is to be expected but this is getting ridiculous at 1045 66006 passes Treviscoe with 6P24 12:50 Parkandillack-Fowey.I was walking down from the car when I heard it whistle and made it with seconds to spare. Its only got 20 wagons behind it as opposed to the usual 38.I have wanted this shot for ages so Mega pleased with this.
260214 The usual drive to Burngullow...66006 in what is now a lucky patch of sun with 6P24 12:50 Parkandillack-Fowey
260214 Thanks to a heads up from the BZ...only 20 wagons allowed behind the loco at once so another 18 will be tripped down. After a lengthy wait at Lanjeth 66006 passes at 1350 in yet another lucky sunny break
260214 The train is combined at Burngullow and here the complete 38 wagon train is seen at Gover viaduct en route to Fowey.
270214 Another day, another Parkandillack trip, very unusual so had to be tried. It was 90% cloud at Treviscoe so pleased to get a couple of shots.66006 again shunts wagons at the old clay dries with 6P24 12:50 Parkandillack-Fowey
270214 Treviscoe screams ....china clay! 66006 shunts the wagons and despite "only 20 wagons allowed behind a loco" it is about to get underway with 38 behind it.
070314 Although it is about to pass MP 287, 66006 may as well be a million miles from Paddington!! It is approaching Lavrean with the 1350 Fowey- Goonbarrow.
070314 66006 nears journeys end at Lavrean with the 6G07 13:50 Fowey-Goonbarrow
270214 met up with the BZ at Burngullow where it was wet and windy. All set to drive home when a very large blue patch was seen coming in from the west..game on.
Gone are the days when you turned up at Golant in the afternoon and waited for a train, its really down to a once a week shot now when they come out of Parkandillack. 66006 passes Golant with a very early 6P24 12:50 Parkandillack-Fowey in an extremely fortuitous sunny patch. Its cliched but Is there a better CDA shot to be had.(I've asked that before I know)
010314 A decent Saturday forecast and the first long drive for us.60059 passes Gossington with 6B13 05:04 Robeston-Westerleigh
010314 Todays main target and with no B33 this was all or nothing . 66846 on 6V62 11:00 Tilbury-Llanwern pass Shrivenham.
010314 The assistant mans the tripod and bags a cracker.....66846 on 6V62 11:00 Tilbury-Llanwern at Shrivenham (aka big sky country)
